"No, only very few have both. There are also Earth ponies, who have neither. Pegasus ponies have wings only. And, like I said, I am a unicorn." Sapphire turned to gaze at her cutie mark, a red paintbrush with a rainbow paint trail. "Oh yes, I love to paint, ever since I was a little filly."
Sapphire frowned slightly at the flock of birds that had flown from the tree when Convexia shouted. She said nothing, and simply let the pony rant, knowing she could be of no help. At least, not yet anyway.
When asked if she was still here, Sapphire gave a small smile. "I'm not afraid. And besides, who's going to teach you how to interact with other ponies, hm?" She took a moment to examine their surroundings, then looked back to Convexia.
"You simply can't stay isolated in this forest forever. Wouldn't you like to leave and go make some friends? A young pony like you shouldn't have to live their life alone." Sapphire smiled again, then added, "I spend too much time in my workshop with my head up in the clouds to get into trouble."

When she was sure the voice was gone [for now anyways] she looked back at Sapphire. When Sapphire said she should come out and make some friends she jumped back and blew air out of her nose in a very stubborn way.
"NO WAY!! I DON'T NEED FRIENDS! I'M ALRIGHT BY MYSELF!" She yelled. "They would never accept me anyways! They'd kick me out and hate me like they always have! I'm just an evil little pony who loves to create chaos!" She said, her voice rising.
"THEY DON'T ACCEPT ME BECAUSE OF EVERYTHING I'VE DONE!! BUT THEY DON'T SEE IT WAS MY MOTHER'S FAULT!! YEA, I'VE BURNED BUILDINGS, ROBBED SHOPS, AND DID ALL SORTS OF THINGS BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME ANY LESS OF ANOTHER PONY DOES IT?!" She could feel hot anger burning all over her.
"THEY THINK THEY'RE SO SCARED!! THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT FEAR IS!! I'VE LIVED HERE ALL MY LIFE, WITH NOTHING BUT DANGER!! I'VE HAD TO SURVIVE ON MY OWN, EVER SINCE MY MOTHER DIED! SHE NEVER TOOK CARE OF ME ANYWAYS!!" She shook her head in frustration. "They have no idea....they think I'm scary, try living in the Everfree Forest all your life..."
As Convexia began to yell once again, Sapphire did something unexpected. Maybe it wasn't unexpected knowing her, but other ponies would have likely reacted differently. Sapphire didn't yell back, nor try to interrupt, or even move an inch. She simply let the pony yell, and she listened.
It went on for a while, but Sapphire said nothing until she was finished. Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, she looked at Convexia for a short while. She was never really good at talking to short tempered ponies, but she could try anyway.
"You've burned building and robbed shops?" Sapphire silently scolded herself, that should not have been the first thing she said. "I don't think you're scary." This pony spent her whole life being misunderstood, but Sapphire wasn't quite sure what to say.
"The first step toward fixing all this is to get out there and meet new ponies." Recalling what Convexia had said, Sapphire asked, "Did your mother keep you in this forest?"

Convexia glared at her intimidatingly when she asked the question that she had answered before it was even asked.
"I told you, I don't need friends. Friendship is stupid, you need only yourself. Others are just a extra obstacle for you to face." She shook her head. "I'm my only friend, and I like that." When she asked about her mother keeping her here she felt a wave of sadness rush through her, but was replaced by anger soon enough. "Yes." She growled.
"I got to watch her die, sadly I didn't really get to see her face twisted up in pain. She stayed emotionless, like dying wasn't anything bad. I'm glad that lightning hit that tree. I'm glad that tree fell on her. I'm GLAD she died! If she was still alive, she would still be controlling me. But now I can live of my own free will, I'm free now." She breathed in, relaxing at the thought of freedom. "Being with her was nothing but torture."
"That's not true," Sapphire said to Convexia, "I have many friends, and a good life thanks to them." She once again looked to the forest around them, letting her violet eyes rest on the large tree for a moment, before looking back to the pony.
"So it was your mother who kept you here.." Sapphire didn't comment on her mother's death, but simply waited for her to finish talking. "You say you are free, and yet you stay confined to this forest. Isn't that what your mother wanted? Are you truly free while you keep yourself hidden away here, like your mother always forced you to be?"
She took a short moment to gather her thoughts again, then began talking carefully, in hopes Convexia didn't lose her temper again. "The past has a way of leaving its scars, but you can't let it control you. Do you really want to stay in a horrible place filled with bad memories?"

Convexia opened her mouth to argue, but no words came out.
"You say you are free, and yet you stay confined to this forest. Isn't that what your mother wanted? Are you truly free while you keep yourself hidden away here, like your mother always forced you to be?"
All this bounced in her mind.
"I like it here." She struggled to find a good comeback. "Even if the Everfree Forest was about to explode, I would never go to your stupid little pony village! I'd rather get blown to bits along with it!" She growled. "Everypony hates me....if I go down there they'll just run..." She growled. "I've been trying to break my 'habit' of destroying your place though..."
"My past?" She asked then laughed. "Do you think I give a damn about my past? Like I said, this is my home, and it always has been. I don't plan on leaving it." She said. "But, I think SOME pony should plan on leaving.." She looked at Sapphire smirking.
"Do you really like it here?" She began to challenge Convexia with the way she spoke. "Or is that just a lie you tell yourself?" It was unusual for Sapphire to speak this way, but now it almost seemed personal.
"You are a lovely pony, with beautiful wings, and yet you waste the opportunity by staying here." Her violet eyes remained locked on Convexia, and seemed to have a pleading look. "Don't you have any idea what wonders are out there?"
Sapphire's gaze finally wandered to the ground, and she gave a silent sigh. "Wonders that I'll never see." She looked to her sketchbook, with its bright red cover and pencil tucked into its spine. Her blue horn suddenly stopped glowing, and the sketchbook dropped to the ground with a soft thump.
"All I can do is paint the things I dream to see."

Convexia looked at the ground.
"I..." She couldn't find words, once again. "Is this some kind of joke to you? To come and ruin ponies life? I was fine before you came..." She shook her head in frustration.
Isn't it about time you helped me?
"Be patient!" She said angrily. "I'll tell your stupid lover about your death alright!?I'm handling a big situation! Ughh." She sighed. "You may be a pretty pony, but that doesn't stop me from driving you out of here." She stepped forward to Sapphire in an intimidating way. "I think it's about time you get out of my home..."
Sapphire almost smiled, she was sure she had made at least some progress. "I don't ruin lives." She said, slightly offended, "It is you who is ruining your own life. I only want you to see the truth."
She sighed once again, realizing she was getting nowhere. When Convexia tried to intimidate her, Sapphire responded by taking her own step forward. Being older Sapphire was taller, and she looked down upon the pony. "I will leave this place when I wish to, not when you command me to."
Knowing the pony wasn't about to change her mind, Sapphire once again picked up her sketchbook. "You've made your decision, I won't waste my breath." She looked to the sketchbook, and it began to float toward her until a small folded paper fell from its place tucked under the cover.
She stared at the folded paper on the ground, already knowing what it was even though she didn't open it. It was a small painted picture of a blue alicorn, one that resembled a young Sapphire in a way. It was obviously painted by a filly, and looked quite old as well.
When asked why she wasn't afraid, Sapphire smiled. "Just because I'm a 'city girl' doesn't mean I have to faint at the sight of dirt."
"If they see you with me, it'll be fine." Sapphire thought for a moment, then said, "You know, you wouldn't be the only hated pony that returned to Ponyville. In fact, you very much remind me of someone."
Sapphire picked up the folded paper from the ground, and tucked it back into her sketchbook. "Tell me, have you ever heard of the legend of Night Mare Moon?"
"Of course I would go with you." Sapphire replied, "I'd give you a tour around the whole town. It wouldn't take long, it's a small town."
Sapphire wondered how much this pony didn't know about the princesses, so she started from the beginning. "Hopefully you know Princess Celestia, she rules Equestria. Well, she had a little sister, Luna. Luna did something terrible, and she was banished to the moon by Celestia."
Sapphire paused to make sure Convexia had gotten all of that, then continued. "From then on she was known as Night Mare Moon, and all the ponies feared her. One thousand years later she returned to cast Equestria into eternal night, but she was defeated. She saw the error of her ways, and returned to Canterlot to rule alongside her sister once again."

"I..." She looked around nervously. "Why are you doing this?"
Celestia..." She laughed. "I've heard of her. My mom always talked bad about her. I heard she was a pony who always lied to her kingdom, trying to keep everything a secret. She can do anything she wants...heh, I wonder how snotty nosed she would be..." She sighed. "What do YOU think about her?" She turned her attention to Sapphire.
"Nightmare Moon.....hmm..." She looked at the ground. "The way you put all that....it does sound kind of like me...if you think about it."
She thought for a minute, it suddenly getting quiet.
"Fine. Give me twenty four hours to think of my desicion. I will consider going with you to look around Ponyville..." She smirked. "I have to do something first anyways..." She looked around. "Where should I start..?"
He really likes to go to Sugarcube Corner...perhaps you'll find him there..
"What? Where's Sugarcube Corner?.." She asked, having a feeling she knew the answer.
"I like to make friends." Sapphire said to Convexia, "They give me the best inspiration."
"Oh, Celestia is not like that at all." Sapphire had never met the princesses, but she had heard much of them when she occasionally traveled to Canterlot. "She tries to spend time with us normal ponies, but she is usually very busy. Celestia is in charge of the sun, you know."
"Someday I wish to meet the princesses... but that's not very likely." She gave a small, silent sigh, then was alerted to Convexia's sudden silence.
Sapphire wasn't sure whether or not Convexia would actually meet her again after twenty four hours, but she really had no choice. This was the best chance she had to convince the pony to come to Ponyville. Suddenly, Sapphire grinned when she realized that Convexia might be coming with her sooner than expected.
"Sugarcube Corner is a nice little shop in Ponyville."
